I just upgraded from Version 6. I did this because I switched operating systems to Windows 7 and decided that it was time to go with a new update to PSE. It loaded perfectly. I have had no operating problems whatsoever. It is very speedy. I love the new photomerge options, especially the poor man’s HDR (Photomerge exposure). I will be using this to save those high contrast shots. Also the smart brush tools are very useful, and timesavers. People complain about a lack of a manual. This is a very valid complaint. This is not a simple program and I find most online help services a big pain. Regrettably, this is not just an Adobe problem. Almost all software programs have “missing manuals”. I do recommend that you purchase a third party manual and a tutorial, even if you have used PSE before. I am using the “Adobe PSE 8 Classroom in a Book” which has lessons and a CD, and it has been very helpful. If you are serious about digital photography, or even if you just want to improve your family pictures, you need an editing program. This one gives you the most back for the buck

I am so happy to be using Photoshop Elements 8. It has opened a whole new world for me in digital photography. It is so easy to get started. I did purchase two books to learn more, but anyone can use this program without classes or additional instruction to make good photos even better! I would recommend this software to anyone who likes to take pictures and wants them to be special! Don’t be afraid to get started. If you can use a digital camera and a computer, you’re all set!

I am recently starting up a photography business, and always wanted a photoshop program. I am happy to say, this was alot cheaper then I thought it was. I got to play around with this after I bought it, and so far so good. I love it!

There are some great upgrades on here, but the interface seems unnecessarily complicated and, overall, poorly designed for ease of use (or maybe I’m just slow?). I find I’m not using some of the updated features nearly as much as I thought I might have, but perhaps in time (and more familiarity) that will change. Not bad, but nothing I couldn’t live without.

I have used both Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop Elements, and Elements has everything most amateur photographers, even serious amateurs, will ever need. The addition of Adobe Bridge for organizing photos is a significant addition, and the Photomerge features (for creating HDR images, removing unwanted people from a scene, and so on) is a major plus. Elements also runs my favorite Photoshop filter, Topaz Adjust, every bit as well as CS4. So, unless you have really advanced needs (cutting and saving masks, for example), Elements is the way to go.

Well this is going back to Adobe Grey on Grey == Depression == dead muse Really not sure who can read 8 pt black font on top of gray (menu). In this age of skins, themes, personalization HOW did Adobe come up with this crxx – are they publishing a bad program to make people buy the more expensive ones??? R

I have very little experience with Photoshop, and often have used Picasa. It’s much easier to use than the earlier version I had (Elements 5). They have very helpful tutorials at their website and a free online magazine sample or two. In my older version to cut out an image I had to do it perfect or start over. In this one you can do a little at a time and redo sections. It seems to be smarter in outlining by itself most of the time too. I love the photomerging, and especially have used it for group shots to switch the best faces with just a simple line through the subject. Nice templates also.

In the past, I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 so Elements 8 is quite an upgrade for me. Many of the features included in this program are easy to follow & lots of fun to use. You can read about most of them in Amazon’s product description. Others have me stumped. I know I could figure it out if I had enough time. I’d appreciate it if a good manual was included so I can more easily understand the process. Some layouts, frames, etc. are marked with a gold ribbon which means if I want to use them I need to pay for an upgrade. Adobe, please don’t tease me with them, either leave them out or include them in the purchase price. I had fun using the recompose tool & found it fascinating & mind-boggling, a very nice tool…but when I experimented by removing an unwanted 3rd person from the photo & using recompose, I couldn’t quite get the editing to work correctly. I watched a tutorial video, but it didn’t address the problem I had. All in all, Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 is a nice program. There are many editing features a novice will find easy to use; others that won’t be so easy, but with time, patience & an instructional manual it’d be doable. Through Amazon’s Vine program, I recently reviewed a nice photo editing program, PhotoPlus X3 Digital Studio, which comes with an informative user’s manual making the more difficult editing features easier for me to use. PhotoPlus X3 also comes with a guarantee.

My daughter had used older versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements but she needed to upgrade with a new program. I ordered Version 8 for her and she loves it. She installed it in her laptop with no problems. She said it is “awesome”.
