  1. Get out your wallet on Wednesday 4, 2009
Had version 5, when I moved a new computer & reinstall just a year later found that the plugin for my Nikon camera was no longer available on the adobe web site, forced to ‘upgrade’ to a new version for close to full price. They want you to keep on buying, so watch out. Makes the free versions much more compelling.
  2. fun with photos on Wednesday 4, 2009
Great product, If you can figure it out. I can’t believe when you buy a product you don’t get instructions with it. How does the compansy expect repeat business if you don’t know how to use their product.
  3. PSE 7 Really Slow on Wednesday 4, 2009
I purchased this software a few months ago and have not really used it that much. Why? Because it takes forever to load a photo for editing. I have an HP Quad-Core Processor with 8 GB of ram and it is still very slow. I have since then purchased a copy of Corel’s Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 which has a lot or more of the options of PSE7 and I have had no problems with photos loading up quickly. Once the photo has been loaded into PSE7 it is great, but Adobe should come out with a fix for this problem which appears to have been around since Version 3.0.
  4. Adobe Elements 7 on Wednesday 4, 2009
Amazon’s advertising is misleading by offering a $20 mail-in rebate. Actually the rebate is for people who previously own an Adobe product. When I tried to conact Amazon by phone at 1-800-940-1298 (customer support) I was only offered to check on rebate submission status, not an actual agent, then it hangs up if you don’t make a choice. Also I tried to fill out the online form to ask customer service for help and the dropdown menu for choosing a product doesn’t work so it never lets you submit your question. I am very dissatisfied with Amazon business ethics, much less the actual product. Now on to the product. I was informed by an article in the Popular Photography magazine, volume 73 – No.4 (April 2009) that Elements 7 works with RAW imaging. It doesn’t according to the Adobe Element 7 Organizer. I contacted Adobe and was also told that it doesn’t. I was told by Adobe that if you want to work with RAW format images, you must purchase Lightroom 2 or CS4. I have friends that say Element 2 and 6 work fine with RAW images. Don’t buy anything from Amazon if you think there might be a problem because there is no way of actually talking to a customer service representative. Don’t buy an Adobe product unless you’re absolutely sure it will do what you want it to do. Don’t believe everything you read in photography magazines, some editors are uneducated.
  5. Rebate scam on Wednesday 4, 2009
Buyers beware… Amazon is adverising a $20.00 rebate; however, the only way you can get the rebate is if you previously purchased Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Album, Photoshop LE, Photoshop Deluxe or a few other items. I could have gotten this cheaper at Costco with the coupon they sent me. Part of me wants to return this to Amazon but the thought of dealing with the post office is stopping me.
  6. Great product, easy to use on Wednesday 4, 2009
My pictures usually come out pretty good, so don’t usually edit my pictures a lot. However, for the occasional red eye this version does a much better job of fixing it with just a simple mouse click (compared to my previous version 2.0). Light level fixes are very easy, I like to use the ‘levels’ control for this type of adjustment. Another thing fun to do is to generate black and white pictures. Photos taken in good lighting usually will have no issues, but in poor lighting, the ‘despeckle’ function (under the filter->noise menu) is great to remove grains from the pictures. Definitely recommend this program for anybody with digital photos to fix up.
  7. fun and easy on Wednesday 4, 2009
i like the product, i would recommend to someone who does not have the time to learn the whole photoshop or someone who is new to photography
  8. A Ripoff on Wednesday 4, 2009
I was forced to buy this so called upgrade because Adobe refuses to issue a RAW fix for the Canon G10 for my Photoshop Elements 5.0. They have issued a RAW conversion file but only for versions 6.0 and 7.0. So they are adopting the Microsoft approach. My next computer will be an Apple and it will be goodbye and good riddance to Microsoft and Adobe.
  9. Photoshop on Wednesday 4, 2009
I bought Photoshop 7 specifically for the purpose of repairing some very old photos. It was easy to follow the process and it did the job.
  10. Photoshop Review on Wednesday 4, 2009
I bought this for my wife. She used it for a college photography class. This version of photoshop is actually an upgarde from the one she learned on. It is a very good product.
  11. not for newbies on Wednesday 4, 2009
I already owned Elements 3 and recently upgraded to Elements 7. This is a terrific program but it is far more advanced than a person new to digital photo editing needs. An earlier version say Elements 3 , is much less expensive and probably a better choice. For newbies strongly suggest earlier version and purchase a book that gives in depth instruction on that program. Once you have totally mastered Elements 3 you can consider moving up to Elements 7. I found elements 3 to be much more user friendly ( for a novice user ) than Elements 7. Elements 7 seems to assume an existing fairly high degree of knowledge relative to digital photo editing. Elements 7 is a terrific program but new users should start with earlier edition.
  12. Impressive on Wednesday 4, 2009
I upgraded from Photoshop Elements 3 to 7 when I switched from XP to Vista, and 3 no longer worked. I am generally pleased. It is nice to have a package which includes both editing and organization. With 3, I had to use Photoshop Album for organization.
  13. Not for Novices on Wednesday 4, 2009
Need an extra book to explore this software. Even than it was not as easy to navigate as I had hoped.
  14. I ordered this product as an upgrade for my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 program. This is an improvement over the older program and one I would recommend to anyone who is starting out with digital photography. I like the more eye-friendly editing page. Icons are easier to read. More room is used for the actual work space for editing. There are some pitfalls, if they can be seen as pitfalls. Elements 7 requires more memory. Elements 7 takes up 383MB whereas my Elements 2 takes up only 88MB. People with older computers should take this into consideration; for owners of newer systems this should not be a problem. (Microsoft Vista, for instance, takes over 4000MB). I enjoy the added features listed in the quick-fix pulldowns: sky editing, erase features and other useful enhancements. I am more of a photojournalist rather than an artist and don’t need some of the features. However, I do enjoy the quicker availabilty of these options. The skin tones come out looking more natural than on my older Photoshop version and I don’t have to do as many steps to achieve that natural look. One thing about Photoshop, though, that may irritate some people is that the owners manual that comes with the product requires thorough familiarity. The icons alone may not explain well enough how the step-by-step options work. For new owners of this system I highly recommend you read this manual from cover to cover and then practice some of the features. Those with older programs this is easier done as the layouts haven’t changed much from older versions. Users of Elements 7 may find an additional purchase of an “Idiot’s Guide” book to be more helpful than the enclosed manual. I would recommend this program for beginners and those looking for a good, basic, affordable photo editing program.
  15. Photoshop 7 review on Wednesday 4, 2009
This was purchased as a gift. I’m not the end user so I can’t evaluate it properly.
  16. Adobe Photo Shop Elements on Wednesday 4, 2009
Great for the weekend warrior shutter bug! And I’m also guessing that armature photographer will love it too! Best though to get a book that will walk you though all the features if this is your first serious photo software.
  17. solid performing photo editor on Wednesday 4, 2009
I use primarily the Editor, as opposed to the Organizer or other subprograms. It works very well, with a ton of features. A couple items that I would wish to see improved are: I can often do everything I want to do to a photo, with the Quick menu. EXCEPT, rotate it by a few degrees to correct slight crookedness. For that one has to switch to the Full menu. It would be nice to have that specific “Custom” Rotation choice enabled while within the Quick menu. I am not interested in the photoshop online photo hosting, so am annoyed that the software’s splash screen requires you to look at it every time. Since I ALWAYS choose the Editor program, why can’t it allow that as a configuration preference, to skip the splash screen? That said, both issues above are slight inconveniences, not diminishing my overall satisfaction with its core capabilities.
  18. Photo Elements 7 on Wednesday 4, 2009
This Photo Elements did not work correctly and was very difficult to use and I had to return it. I understand Photo Elements 6 is a better version.
  19. Overkill,confusing on Wednesday 4, 2009
[[ASIN:B001DMBWXS Adobe Photoshop Elements 7]} Terminology very confusing, automatically grabbed all files on harddrive (took forever) Duplicated all photo folders (don’t know why?), I have been using ACDSEE for quite a while but the new version was a nightmare of errors so I decided to try Photo elements what a mistake! I’m now using Picasa and I really like it especially the price (0.00)!
  20. Elements 7 on Wednesday 4, 2009
This is the best photo program for the money Period! What do the Pro’s use? You cannot go wrong with this software. Don’t waste time trying others,, Buy It!
  21. Having owned previous versions of Photoshop Elements, I had hoped this version would be a significant improvement. It isn’t. Instead it now comes with annoying pop up windows that advertise Adobe products or tell you files are in watched folders — folders which aren’t relevant to PSE. Also, I thought my older version was able to do a slide show from the “Organize mode” — not this one. This is one upgrade I should have done without. More FRUSTRATING is that I bought this software 6 months ago and I still have not received the $[...] upgrade rebate even after resubmitting a copy of my request three times, mailing in a copy twice and talking with Adobe or their rebate contractor on the telephone four times. I’ve now mailed a complaint to the VP of Marketing. Guess what – it’s been a month and I still haven’t heard from the VP either. Adobe – where is your customer service? This product isn’t that good to warrant this much frustration
  22. ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 7 I’m so glad I purchased the Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. This is the first picture I have edited & printed from Photoshop 7. I am taking a class on it through Senior Net. I still have lots to learn about it but am looking forward to it. Grandma Char from Peoria, IL
  23. Defects and weak support on Wednesday 4, 2009
So there are two major defects with this software that I’ve experienced. 1. The backup to DVD fails part-way through the backup. It says it cannot write to the DVD and to check the version of the DVD driver – which btw is up to date. Plus, all other DVD from other programs work fine. AND – the DVD that Photoshop actually fails on – is actually written ok and is readable. But Photoshop doesn’t know this and fails the whole backup making this feature unusable. 2. The folder structure keeps corrupting showing the photos in the wrong directories (folders) – although the actual files are still in the correct folders. This is the second time it’s happened and the only fix is to rebuild the Photoshop catalog (losing all the previous information, version sets etc.) AND this also invalidates the current back-up to the alternate hard disk. Support from Adobe is worthless. They have no idea about how to diagnose problems with their own product – basically you are on your own. Very disappointing because the editing features are very powerful. Too bad the organizational capabilities of this product are trash. Picasa (free) is much better at the organization.
  24. Photoshop for the poor man on Wednesday 4, 2009
Honestly I was hesitant to purchase this version of photoshop because in previous jobs I’ve held, they have had full blown CS versions and I thought I would really be missing out. So far, as a web developer, I have not missed any features other than paths, and I can get by without those for what I do. If you’re looking for an introductory way into the Photoshop family, this is it!
  25. I recently purchased a new computer with a VISTA Home Premium OS (64 bit)which wasn’t compatible with my (old) Photoshop Elements 4.0. The “read me” file that came on the new Photoshop 7 disk noted that in some situations a 2 or 3 second delay occurs during certain parts of the edit process. This delay is vastly understated (in some cases the delay is more than a full minute.)I enjoyed the older program features very much, and the newest version is also full featured, but, Elements 7 really needs a “patch” for clean 64 bit operation.
  26. Good minimized tool on Wednesday 4, 2009
I have Adobe Production Pro with all the bells and whistles of Photoshop. For quickie changes or mods to photos, photo objects or even clips (cartoons usually) I call up elements, do what is required, save and minimize again. Elements can do so much but is really easy to use, especiall if you just want to adjust a photo which is too light, too dark, pale color or you want to clip part of it out. For ease of use and capabilities I give it a five.
  27. adobe photoshop elements user on Wednesday 4, 2009
I have used many versions of this software. This version 7 has more added features that make organization and editing much easier than previous versions. Am anxious to use and learn the program better.
  28. HARD TO USE on Wednesday 4, 2009
This is a really hard package to use. It is not intuitive. The help is poor. The screen print is very tiny. Unfortunately, it is the only package out there for the Vista operating system.
  29. Powerful Image Processor on Wednesday 4, 2009
Professionals might look down upon this junior partner to Adobe Photoshop, but it has a good depth of image organizing and processing features for both the beginner and intermediate user. The first major section is the Organizer, which is very useful for keeping track and sorting through your images. It can find and handle images already on your hard drive, can import them from a camera or a scanner, and then enables one to tag the images with custom tags, or a handful of suggested ones. Some basic editing can be done from within the editor. The user can also pass images to the Editor at the click of a button. The Editor enables one to manipulate the contents of the digital image. General correction of lighting and contrast is very easy using Auto Smart Fix. That, combined with Cropping and Adjust Color Cast go a long way towards fixing up images for printing. There also is an easy-to-use feature to resize images for email or web posting. I am currently working through a 500 page book (there is no manual) to learn more of the rest of the features. Only doing this part-time, that will take months. However, the above-mentioned features have been greatly helpful, and were easy for the beginner to master. Highly recommended.
  30. To Buy or Not to Buy Elements 7 on Wednesday 4, 2009
Prior to purchasing Elements 7, I was using Elements 5 and before that 3.0. Over the years I’ve also used the usual assortment of editing software programs and all have features I like but none had or have all the features I’d like to use in one program. Elements 7 comes the closest. Reading the negative comments here about Version 7, I hesitated before proceeding to checkout. Instead, I took advantage of Adobe’s free 30 trial. What I found, subjectively, was faster loading and faster edit processing. With Version 5, anything over 20 photos would cause my computer to creep and the program to crash frequently. Version 7, on the same machine, is much faster loading and processing -I’ve done over 60 photos at one time (average size 3.5 MB) – no crashes and acceptable speed – my computer has 2GB RAM which I’ll be upgrading shortly to 4 which should improve speed even more – 2cpu 32 bit Vista at 1.80GHz. Reason for 4 stars and not 5? Version 5 gives a count of the number of photos open – Version 7 doesn’t (or I haven’t found it yet but it’s not on the Edit page to my knowledge) I did find the count on V.5 very useful. One wonders why a program upgrade deletes features found in the previous version. Neverthless, faith in Elements 7 has caused me to uninstall all other photo processing software (though I do retain the original program discs in case of need) I would buy a book to learn Version 7 – I did and it’s already saved me quite a bit of time for how-to look-ups. I’m not recommending my book, though it seems fine, but it’s the only one I’ve read or used and that’s unfair to the many books out there on this subject. I’ve ordered Essentials 2 as a companion program to Elements 7 and will report on it when it arrives and I’ve used it for a while. Do I recommend Elements 7 to friends and others? Yep!
  31. Very hard to use on Wednesday 4, 2009
I have used photoshop elements for years, from the time I first started editing my photographs. I have recommended the product to numerous people. I have used photoshop elements 3 very happily ever since it came out. I recently needed to upgrade to 7 to use with my new laptop, which came with the Vista OS. I cannot stand PSE 7. The black interface makes it extremely hard to use. They say you can adjust it, but that means merely dulling it down to grey, which doesn’t help at all. Who ever thought that using white type on a black background would work? You can’t even see which tools are selected when you use the black interface. With the grey, you can barely see which tools are selected and you can hardly read the type across the top. I’m extremely unhappy with this product and am going to look into returning it.
  32. Smart software! on Wednesday 4, 2009
I used the Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 for a long time before finally taking the plunge to buy this version, a lot of nice features within plus able to open and edit RAW files is a plus. I had thought of getting the more expensive CSversions but too costly for just an hobby type photographer, this works very nice! The one thing it does doe is reach to the internet and while I am at work our firewall makes it take a LONG time to start up, so I usually unplug my internet connection and then it fires right up and starts. Otherwise no other problems, running on a slower computer than recommended but it seems to work fine, so don’t let that stop you from buying. My computer has XP and a 1.86 processor and 1 gig of ram. G2
  33. I wanted a program that was more powerful than Picasa 3 and Photoshop Elements 7 fits the bill. The editing features are much more powerful than Picasa. HOWEVER, Picasa blows it away in terms of sharing, organizing, blogging, etc. The biggest issue I have with Photoshop Elements 7 is that you can’t use a web-based email account directly from the program. The instructions say that you have to export your pictures to another folder then upload them into your web-based email. Come on…in Picasa I can click on a picture and immediately send it via google mail. I’ll probably use PS 7 for serious editing when I need it but every day photo management I’ll use Picasa. I wish PS 7 was better designed.
  34. Love editing on Wednesday 4, 2009
Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 is great for novice enthusiasts and has some editing capabilities. I don’t use the organizer or anything else, just the editing and I find it great. You do need a fast computer otherwise it takes a while to load and edit multiple batches. It is really simpler than people say, just download the demo from adobe and they send you tips for the 30 days that the trial lasts helping you figure out the features. There is also a little exploring and thinking but most of it is simple. Would definitely recommend.
  35. Powerful and easy photo editor on Wednesday 4, 2009
Photoshop Elements 7 is a great program to organize all your photos. It has a great tagging feature with places, people, and anything else you need. It also has a powerful photo editor, not photoshop-level, but more than enough for most people while also being easy to use.
  36. Great Software on Wednesday 4, 2009
Very good product to play and also work semi professionally with your pictures. There are many tutorials available both on the internet and on the libraries shelves to explain in depth the functions of this product. One book I’d recommend containing a lot of examples and explenations is called “how to cheat in photoshop elements 7″ by David Asch and Steve Caplin.
  37. Well done product. on Wednesday 4, 2009
I typically find the adjacent versions, e.g, ver. 6 to 7, not that different and skip versions. I saw some writeups on performance but tested it as a download prior to purchase and didn’t see any particular problem. Stitching capability is nice and I’ve been using some other features to restore/recolor and 1818 map. The scanned file size is 380 meg, which I would think would expose any significant performance issues.
  38. What a mess!! on Wednesday 4, 2009
I’m so dissappointed with this program. I have been using Picasa 3 which is free and thought that this would be a step up. It probably is a step up if you could figure out how to operate it. I am so frustrated with it I am ready to pitch the whole thing. There aren’t enough instructions with this program to even get started. What a mess. How do they expect you to use this program with no instructions. I fiddled with it for 4 days now and haven’t accomplished a thing. With Picasa 3 it was easy. This thing is slow and unresponsive. So slow that you think the computer is froze up.Adobe should have paid me to try this thing. I’m giving it one star because there is no option for 0 stars. Pathetic.
  39. Lots To Learn, But Not Too Hard on Wednesday 4, 2009
Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 appealed to me as an amateur photographer, who, having graduated to digital photography and been hooked on its speed and ease of operation, suddenly discovered an urge to do a lot more with photos than just click and print. What to do about the lopsided house, the unwanted passerby in the foreground, the haziness of a shot, the two photos that would make a great panorama if only I knew how to merge them? Though quite possibly I’d qualify as a techno-idiot when it comes to such programs as Photoshop-anything, the Elements 7 has opened my eyes to a new world of possibilities. First, it allows the user to create a free online account (a more elaborate version is available for an annual fee) where free tutorials are offered, perfect for the “challenged,” such as myself, and for anyone really wanting to learn the ins and outs of the program. Without needing to know much, however, you can still get right into using the software. In the “editing” section, one can choose “Full,” “Quick,” or “Guided” versions of the program. We all know where this reviewer is right now, being “guided”! But even at this basic level wonders occur — and they do so quickly, and without great effort on the user’s part. For the more skilled individual, all the tools are there. If you want to rebuild that fallen chimney without “guidance,” you can paint it in, brick by brick, and pixel by pixel. It’s up to you. And, of course, with your online account, you can save and share your memories with others. Admittedly, I still have much to learn about this new software, but from the little I have thus far experienced, it’s worth owning.
  40. happy on Wednesday 4, 2009
I am happy with the program. Best part is that it is in English so I can understand the directions. I am still getting used to it, but am happy.
  41. Never got the package! on Wednesday 4, 2009
I ordered Adobe Photoshop 7 from Amazon on April 18, 2009. My order went to a company called Infinite Surplus. I never got the product! I have emailed Infinite Surplus, who claim to have send it and the post office who claimed to deliver it but I don’t have it! I paid almost $70 for this item and never received it! I don’t think I’ll be ordering from Amazon again.
  42. An early Photoshop user on Wednesday 4, 2009
This program is a good way to enhance or correct your images, and an excellent entry into the Photoshop products.
  43. Photoshop Elements 7 software on Wednesday 4, 2009
I love Photoshop Elements. Have had their last couple of upgrades and was anxious to get PE 7!!
  44. Decent basic what I expected on Wednesday 4, 2009
I have not had exp. with any earlier version of this product. So far I find it to easy to use, helpful in editing my photos and getting that just right look that I can’t quite get from just the photo. I have not had stability problems, or any crashes. Its just decent basic photo editor. With a few quirks. Give it a shot not too expensive and does mostly what normal people need.
  45. superb on Wednesday 4, 2009
great upgrade from photoshop elements 4, which i was using…highly recommend this seller as well
  46. makes you an expert on Wednesday 4, 2009
The book lives up to its name-Classroom in a Book -the official training workbook from Adobe Systems. Sooo – it’s great if you want to learn this much detail & too detailed to go through if you just want to learn the basics.
  47. Rebate not as advertised on Wednesday 4, 2009
Adobe offered a rebate with purchase of Photoshop Elements 7. When all requirements were mailed to their process center, center went bankrupt. Follow-up with Adobe customer service 2 months later required faxing all documents to Adobe for Adobe to re-enter and process rebate. 3 months later, no rebate has been received and there records show their case is closed. I will never order another Adobe product due to poor customer service and false advertising.
  48. Previous version much better on Wednesday 4, 2009
I bought version 7.0 to upgrade my version 4.0 which I love. Version 7.0 brings nothing new and actually deletes many features that are very useful (such as displaying a slide for longer than 6 seconds and enabling random slide motion). All slides are the same motion sequence in version 8.0. Music is also very difficult to get levels right in 8.0 and I have spent literally hours trying to get the audio right when in 4.0 I could do it in seconds. Don’t buy this version.
  49. User interface unreadable on Wednesday 4, 2009
I’ve been using PSE for 5 years and use the product daily. I have found no other product that is as good at managing photos. I recently bought the version 7 upgrade, have been using version 5. I find the new user interface to be completely unreadable. They have selected a gray background and by moving a slider you can vary it from white on gray to black on gray. I may have an unusual computer setup however, I have a Sony SXRD 60″ TV as my monitor. This makes a great platform for showing photos and videos, and the rest of the time is in use as a TV. I haven’t found other applications that were difficult to read that could not be adjusted. So your mileage may vary. For me, I never even got to open a photo. If I can’t read the screen, all the great features are pretty irrelevant. I submitted a technical support incident to Adobe, but after 3 days I’ve received no response. On the Adobe user forums there are comments that others find the interface poor and that there is no way to change it. So if you can get past the user interface, you will probably like the product. However, be warned that on some installations it may not be readable and there is no way to fix it.
  50. NO MANUAL PROVIDED on Wednesday 4, 2009
I bought PSE 7 as a novice to Adobe Photoshop products. Much to my suprise, guess what NO MANUAL!!! Almost $100 software product and absolutely no guidance on how to use it. After thumbing through the multiple advertisements for me to join their website, I finally found the link to the online help/manual. What a depressing attempt at providing instruction. The online manual/help is overly wordy, overly praising of the product, and provides very little actual step by step guidance. It seems that Adobe almost makes the assumption that everyone who buys PSE 7 is upgrading from a previous version and understands how everything works. Now, granted I was a novice to PSE software, but not computer illiterate, so I surfed blogs, online tutorials, etc…and have found out how to use many of the very powerful features of the software. However, this has taken several hours of painstaking searches and rifling through unwanted junk to get to the meat of the matter. Bottom line…great software, very powerful editing and particularly useful organization tools!!! On the con side…you absolutely NEED a manual as a novice to Photoshop and the online one provided by Adobe is a bunch of Junk, please heed this advice. I ended up purchasing a book from the “Missing Manual” series, which I’m hoping will help.
